Band Insurance Scheme
The Band Association of NSW offers The Band Public Insurance Scheme (provided by Sportscover Australia Pty Ltd, also known as Active Underwriting Specialists) to all NSW Community Bands.
The 2023 annual premium for $20 million cover is $479. However, the premium reduces to $445 without stamp duty, subject to returning this stamp duty exemption form before the invoice is issued.
Policies are renewable on 30th June each year. Please note the policy will cover ‘casual or guest’ players. It is strongly encouraged that you keep records of this in case of a claim.
Bands wishing to join the scheme midway through the year can apply for a pro-rata rate. However, all Bands must hold current registration with the BANSW to take out a policy.
This fee is reviewed each year and advised to Bands before each commencement period.
All bands that qualify for the stamp duty exemption must complete a declaration when renewing or purchasing a new policy.
Policy Details
The policy covers Legal Liability for Property Damage or Personal Injury to the general public regarding the Band’s activities. It may also apply to protect Band Members against third party claims by other Band Members.
The Limit of Indemnity is $20,000,000 with an Excess of $250.
